Game of Thrones fans are not too happy with the show’s final series. The latest season has been accused of being over-the-top, illogical, and even nonsensical by viewers on social media.

After an overwhelmingly negative reaction to the latest episode, The Bells, Throners are mobilizing against HBO.

An online petition, imploring the network to “Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers”, has gathered over a quarter of a million signatures.

It argues that the show’s creators, David Benioff and DB Weiss, “have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers.” Fans have been particularly critical of the treatment of certain female characters, including Sansa Stark, Arya Stark and Daenerys Targaryen.

A clip of Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, calling the eighth series the “best season ever” while openly grimacing, has resurfaced online. Underwhelmed fans believe it reveals that the actress shares their disappointment.

The petition that the show be remade suggests that the latest series suffers because, like the sixth and seventh season, it does not use George RR Martin's books as source material.

It implores HBO to “subvert” expectations, and “make it happen.”
